IMD Weather News: The heat wave continues to wreak havoc in the plains of North-West India. Heat waves continuously occur in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The heat waves have made life difficult for the common people. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of intense heat and heat waves for these states. The period of severe heat and humidity is also forecast to continue in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar today i.e. on 13 June 2025. There is no hope of relief from heat in these parts of the country at present. IMD has issued an orange alert of heat for Delhi and surrounding areas as well as western Uttar Pradesh. Meteorologists have advised the common people to avoid going out in direct sunlight so that there are no health-related problems. Let us tell you that the outbreak of severe heat has been continuing for the last few days. Earlier, the heat and temperature were under control due to storms and rain. On Thursday, June 12, the mercury crossed 40 in many areas of the country's capital Delhi. Ayanagar recorded a temperature of 45 and Palam 44.5 degrees Celsius. Due to the high temperature, Delhi continued to experience heatwaves throughout the day, making it difficult for people to leave their homes. The situation was even worse in areas like Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Jammu. The heat has started showing its colors for the last few days, due to which the sun is shining so brightly after 9-10 am that except for working people, other people have started avoiding leaving their homes. According to the Meteorological Department, the situation may remain the same for the next few days.
Speed of the monsoon
After a break, the southwest monsoon slowly started knocking in the country again. With the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, the conditions for the monsoon to move forward are becoming favorable. According to the Meteorological Department, this monsoon can enter some more parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha in the next 48 hours. At present, an active cyclonic circulation is active in the west-central Bay of Bengal near North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Apart from this, a trough line extends from north-eastern Rajasthan to Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Different cyclonic circulations are also being seen over eastern Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. At the same time, a western disturbance is also active.
Heavy rain in some places, heat waves in others
According to the Skymet Weather report, light to moderate rains were recorded in Kerala, Karnataka, North Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Andaman-Nicobar Islands with heavy rains at some places. At the same time, rainfall was also recorded in Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Uttarakhand. Light rain occurred in South Chhattisgarh, South-West Uttar Pradesh, South Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, and some parts of Northeast India. Apart from this, heat wave conditions persisted in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Severe heat waves occurred in some areas of Rajasthan, while hot and humid conditions prevailed in Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.
No relief from heat waves in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave conditions may persist in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in the next 24 hours. Severe heat wave is likely again in some parts of Rajasthan. At the same time, light to moderate rains may occur in some areas of Kerala, Karnataka, Konkan Goa, and Central Maharashtra, with heavy rains at some places. Light to moderate rains are likely in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Marathwada, Vidarbha, South Interior Karnataka, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Northeast India and some parts of Bihar. There may be light rain at some places in Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand also.
