Team India is facing a challenging phase under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer in T20 internationals. The Indian side is still waiting for its first win under Iyer's leadership after playing four matches, raising concerns among fans and cricket experts.
India's recent struggles began during the T20I series against Ireland, where the team suffered defeats in both matches. It was a historic moment as Ireland registered their first-ever T20I victories over India. The difficult phase continued after India's arrival in England, where the team lost the opening two games of the five-match T20I series.
A defeat in Nottingham could create unwanted history
The third T20I between India and England will be played in Nottingham. A loss in this match would see India complete five consecutive T20I games without a victory for the first time in the team's history.
Under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy, India have lost three T20Is, while one match ended without a win. This is the first time in five years that the Indian team has gone through a four-match T20I stretch without recording a victory.
Nottingham challenge: India look to change the script
India's record in Nottingham against England does not provide much confidence. The two teams have played only one T20I at this venue so far, in 2022, where England defeated India by 17 runs in a high-scoring encounter.
After four years, India will return to Nottingham for another T20 battle. Shreyas Iyer and his team will need a strong performance to overcome past results, end their winless run, and avoid an unwanted record in T20 international cricket.
