Earlier, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia had criticized Naqvi for taking the trophy and medals to his hotel room. "We have decided not to accept the trophy from the ACC President, who is one of the prominent leaders of Pakistan. So we will not accept it from him," BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia told ANI.

He also confirmed that the BCCI has decided to report the matter to the ICC. He added, "This does not mean that he will take home the trophy along with the medal. This is very unfortunate and against the spirit of the game."
