In reply, Team India achieved the target of 406 runs in just 43.3 overs. Shubman Gill also broke two world records with his double century in the match. Gill reached his double century in 117 balls, setting the record for the fastest double century in ODI cricket.

Gill broke the record for the fastest double century held by compatriot Ishan Kishan, who achieved the feat in 126 balls. With this, he became only the second batsman in the world to score two double centuries in ODI cricket. Gill previously scored the first double century of his ODI career in January 2023 against New Zealand in Hyderabad.

Gill broke Maxwell's record:
With this innings, Gill also made the highest individual score while chasing a target in ODI cricket. Gill broke Maxwell's record of 201 runs in this matter. Gill completed his century in just 62 balls. After this, he completed 150 runs in just 89 balls. Ishan had scored 150 runs in 103 balls against Bangladesh in 2022. Gill along with Rohit Sharma made a brilliant opening partnership of 255 runs for the first wicket. This was the second highest partnership of any Indian opening pair in the history of ODI cricket. Rohit was out after scoring 101 runs in 75 balls.
