IPL 2026: RCB suffers major setback before IPL begins, Hazlewood could be ruled out for this many matches

IPL 2026 begins on March 28th, with the first match of the tournament between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, before the season opener, defending champions RCB have received some bad news. Reports suggest that star fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will be out of action for at least two matches.

Josh Hazlewood played a key role in helping RCB win their first IPL title in 2025. Hazlewood suffered an injury before the ICC T20 World Cup and was included in the squad for the T20 World Cup, but due to the severity of his injury, the team physio advised him not to play.

Due to this, Hazlewood was unable to play for Australia in the T20 World Cup 2026, resulting in Australia's elimination from the tournament in the league stage. Josh Hazlewood had a stellar IPL 2025, finishing as the tournament's joint third-highest wicket-taker, alongside Mumbai Indians' Trent Boult.
