A major shake-up in the Indian Premier League has seen Rishabh Pant involved in one of the biggest trade deals in IPL history, with significant financial and team changes following the swap.
According to reports, Pant has been traded from Lucknow Super Giants to his former team Delhi Capitals in exchange for star spinner Kuldeep Yadav moving in the opposite direction. The deal reshuffles two key Indian players ahead of IPL 2027.
Pant was originally bought by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, making him the most expensive player in IPL history at the time. However, after the trade agreement, his revised contract value has been reduced to ₹15 crore, resulting in a reported ₹12 crore decrease in salary.
Despite the pay cut, the move brings Pant back to familiar territory. He has previously spent the majority of his IPL career with Delhi Capitals, where he played over 100 matches and also led the side as captain in multiple seasons.
On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav’s salary remains unchanged at ₹13.5 crore, and he continues his IPL journey without any financial adjustment from the trade. The left-arm wrist spinner, who has represented both Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in his IPL career, is now set to begin a new chapter with Lucknow Super Giants.
The high-profile swap highlights how IPL trade dynamics can significantly impact both team strategy and player earnings ahead of a new season.
