Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and International Cricket Council (ICC) president Jay Shah celebrated Olympic Day on June 23 and urged to make progress towards bringing the Olympic Games to India. They used their respective social media handles to promote the International Olympic Committee's 'Let's Move +1 India' campaign, which is being run in collaboration with Abhinav Bindra Foundation and Reliance Foundation.

Shah wrote on X, "Cricket has always united us, and now it's part of the Olympic Movement! This #OlympicDay, celebrate the power of sport that inspires. Invite your +1 to walk, run or play cricket and take steps towards a stronger, healthier India. Together, let's keep moving forward in our journey to bring the Olympic Games home!" BCCI also posted about the Olympics.

It has now made an official bid for the 2036 season, with Ahmedabad being a potential host city. India will face stiff competition from Poland, Indonesia, South Africa, Qatar, Hungary, Turkey, Mexico and Egypt, who are also in the race.

Cricket will be part of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028, marking its first appearance in the Olympics in more than a century. Olympic Day is an IOC initiative celebrated every year on June 23 to commemorate the beginning of the modern Olympic Games.
