KBC 17: “Come Home, Son… I’ll Tell You Later” — When Agastya Nanda Exposed Amitabh Bachchan and Big B Responded with a Funny Warning

The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17 turned into a delightful mix of family drama, humour, and nostalgia. The occasion was the promotion of the film 21, with director Sriram Raghavan and actors Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Simar Bhatia gracing the hot seat. What truly stole the show, however, was the playful banter between host Amitabh Bachchan and his grandson Agastya.

As Agastya and Simar took their seats, Agastya politely helped his co-star adjust her pallu on the chair. Watching this, Amitabh Bachchan teased him, saying it was the first time he had ever seen Agastya do something like that. A visibly embarrassed Agastya blushed, while the audience burst into laughter.

Agastya later admitted that appearing on KBC made him extremely nervous. He compared the experience to a parent-teacher meeting, explaining that on one side sat his grandfather as the host, and on the other his director Sriram Raghavan. Simar Bhatia jokingly complained that Agastya had warned her backstage to behave properly in front of “Sir,” but Big B quickly eased the tension, telling her to relax and be herself.

During the episode, Sriram Raghavan revealed how he decided to cast Agastya in 21. He shared that when Agastya once visited his office, his appearance reminded him of Amitabh Bachchan from the film Saat Hindustani. When Simar asked Big B how he reacted to Agastya’s decision to become an actor, Agastya immediately claimed there was no reaction at all.

Amitabh Bachchan, however, narrated the full story. He said he was certain Agastya would never join his father’s business in Delhi. Big B recalled how Agastya once wrote a scene on his own, performed it, and filmed it himself—something Amitabh noticed long before Agastya realised its significance. He also shared that a simple piece of advice given at the dinner table—focusing on one’s craft—played a crucial role in shaping Agastya’s journey. As Agastya praised him on the show, Big B jokingly interrupted with, “Come home, son… I’ll tell you later,” leaving everyone amused.

The light-hearted mood took another turn when Agastya candidly revealed that the cheerful Nana viewers see on KBC is quite different at home. He said Amitabh Bachchan is much more serious in private, and that the fun and laughter seen on the show is something the family rarely experiences at home.

Agastya also found himself in a tricky spot when a fan asked him to choose between his Nana and Nani. After trying to dodge the question, and with Big B insisting on an answer, Agastya laughingly chose “Nana” for the day, before quickly adding that he loves both equally.
