Kedarnath-Badrinath Dham Yatra 2025: The holy journey of Chardham also includes the journey to Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham. But it has been predicted in the Puranas that a time will come when Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham will disappear. Not only this, Ganga will also return to Brahma's kamandal through the path of Shiva's locks. Will this really happen, when will it happen and if it happens then what will happen after that? Let's know.
Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham are situated on the high Himalayan peaks of Uttarakhand. These are considered important places not only from mythological but also from religious point of view. This is the center of faith for millions of devotees, where every year millions of devotees reach for darshan and gain spiritual energy. It is believed that a person attains salvation by visiting the four Dhams.
But in the Puranas, a very shocking prophecy has been made about Kedarnath and Badrinath in the future, according to which both these Dhams will disappear at some point of time and it will become impossible for ordinary people to reach these pilgrimages. It has been said in the Puranas that this will happen when the Nar Narayan mountains will join each other.
It is described in the verse of Skanda Purana that-
“ Bahuni Santi Tirthani, the divine land of the abyss. Badri-like pilgrimage, neither past nor future.”
Meaning is- According to this shloka of Skanda Purana- there is no holy pilgrimage like Badrinath anywhere else. According to this, in the first phase of Kalyug, a time will come when this pilgrimage will disappear. However, this will happen after about five and a half thousand years. Since the prophecy, this period has now been completed.
It has also been said in the prophecy that before this pilgrimage site disappears, some signs will be visible, the first sign of which will be that the hands of Lord Narsingh Dev seated in Joshimath will get separated from the idol. The priest of the temple also says that in the last few years the fingers of the Lord have started becoming thin. When the fingers get separated from the hands, Badrinath will leave this place and in future the paths of Kedarnath and Badrinath will be closed forever.
What will happen when Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham become invisible
After the disappearance of Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham, Bhavishya Kedar and Bhavishya Badri will be the new Dham for the devotees. Bhavishya Badri is about 25 km away from Joshimath. When Badrinath Dham will not exist, then Vishnu will be worshipped in the form of Narasimha in Bhavishya Badri.
Bhavishya Kedar is also located in Joshimath area. There is a Shivling and a statue of Mata Parvati here. In the coming times, this will be a place where Shiva will be worshipped in the future. It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya also did penance in this area.
