Kia is gearing up to introduce the Sorento in the Indian market, and excitement around the upcoming premium SUV is growing. Ahead of its expected launch, the three-row SUV has reportedly been spotted on Indian roads without camouflage, offering a much clearer look at its exterior design and equipment.
The spotted vehicle was finished in white and appeared to be a mid-spec variant. With a seven-seat configuration, premium features and the possibility of hybrid and diesel powertrains, the Sorento could become an important addition to Kia's SUV lineup in India.
Kia Sorento Spotted Without Camouflage
The latest sighting gives enthusiasts a better idea of what the India-spec Sorento could look like. The SUV was seen with a DCT badge, suggesting the automatic dual-clutch transmission could be part of the lineup.
The test vehicle also appeared to feature several premium elements, including LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, fog lamps, roof rails, a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera.
A high-mounted stop lamp and the SUV's three-row layout further highlight its focus on family-oriented buyers looking for a premium seven-seater.
Premium Features Expected Inside the Cabin
The Sorento is expected to offer a technology-rich cabin with several features designed to enhance comfort and convenience.
One of the highlights could be a large 30-inch curved display setup, incorporating a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Other expected features include:
-
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
-
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
-
Cruise control
-
Ambient lighting
-
Panoramic sunroof
-
Digital climate-control panel
-
Front ventilated seats
-
Wireless smartphone charging
-
Rotary control dial
-
Push-button start
-
360-degree camera
-
Dual-tone interior
With this equipment, Kia is expected to position the Sorento as a more premium offering than its existing mainstream SUVs.
Hybrid and Diesel Engines Could Be Offered
The powertrain lineup is expected to be one of the major attractions of the new SUV.
Kia could offer the Sorento with a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain, while a turbo-diesel option may also be available for buyers who prefer a conventional combustion engine.
Automatic and manual transmission options are also expected, although the exact combination of engines and gearboxes for the Indian market will need to be confirmed by Kia.
If introduced with an all-wheel-drive hybrid configuration, the Sorento could become Kia's first hybrid SUV in India to offer AWD.
India Launch on September 4?
Kia is expected to officially launch the Sorento in India on September 4, when more details about its variants, specifications and pricing are likely to be announced.
The SUV is expected to carry an estimated starting price of around ₹40 lakh (ex-showroom), although the final figure could vary depending on the variant and powertrain.
Toyota Fortuner Could Be One of Its Rivals
With its three-row layout, premium equipment and expected price positioning, the Kia Sorento will enter a competitive part of the Indian SUV market.
It is expected to take on established premium SUVs, including the Toyota Fortuner, while appealing to buyers looking for a combination of space, technology, comfort and multiple powertrain choices.
If Kia manages to combine competitive pricing with its long list of features, the Sorento could become an interesting new option for buyers searching for a premium seven-seater SUV.
