The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) is witnessing a significant shake-up in its leadership after the tragic stampede that occurred during the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) victory parade. The incident, which led to the loss of 11 lives and left many others injured, has raised serious questions about crowd management and safety measures during large public events. In response to the tragedy, KSCA secretary A Shankar and treasurer E Jayaram have resigned from their respective posts, submitting their resignations to the KSCA president.
The stampede took place as thousands of enthusiastic fans gathered to celebrate RCB’s long-awaited victory, creating a chaotic situation in which crowd control became nearly impossible. Despite the excitement and joy of the occasion, the event quickly turned tragic as people were crushed in the dense crowd. Emergency services rushed to the scene to provide immediate assistance, but the scale of the disaster has deeply shaken the cricket community and the public alike.
Following the incident, there has been growing criticism of the KSCA’s handling of the event, with calls for greater accountability and improved safety protocols in the future. The resignations of A Shankar and E Jayaram reflect the gravity of the situation and the association’s acknowledgment of the need for change. Both officials have expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and stated that their decision to step down is aimed at taking responsibility for the unfortunate events.
