Mahabharata: Did you know that these eight warriors survived the war? Learn the details

The Mahabharata War, fought on the land of Kurukshetra between Dharma and Adharma, is the greatest chapter in Indian history. This war, which imparted the wisdom of the Gita, witnessed such massive bloodshed that the entire Kurukshetra was strewn with corpses. Upon the end of the war on the eighteenth day, when the Kauravas were utterly decimated and the Pandavas emerged victorious, only a handful of survivors from the vast armies of both sides remained. Let us examine the eight great warriors who remained unscathed despite that horrific massacre:

5 surviving warriors of the Pandava side:

Yudhishthira: The eldest brother of the Pandavas and Dharmaraja, who became the emperor of Hastinapur after the war.

Bhima: The second Pandava brother, famous for his mace and immense strength.

Arjuna: Friend of Lord Krishna and the main warrior of the Mahabharata, who carried the Gandiva in the war.

Nakula and Sahadeva: The two youngest brothers of the Pandavas, who were adept in warfare.

3 surviving warriors from the Kaurava side and others:

Ashwatthama: Son of Dronacharya, who fought on the Kaurava side. However, at the end of the war, he killed the sub-Pandavas while they were sleeping in the Pandava camp, after which he was cursed by Lord Shiva to wander the earth forever.

Kripacharya: Kripacharya, the family guru of the Kauravas and Pandavas, also survived this great war. He later became the guru of Parikshit and one of the Saptarishis.

Kritavarma: Kritavarma, the chief of the Yadava army and an ally of the Kauravas, also survived the battle safely (though he later died in the mutual massacre of the Yaduvanshis).

The message of this epic battle:
The Mahabharata war was not merely a struggle for kingdoms, but a profound reflection on ego, unrighteousness, and the principles of karma. The few remaining warriors at the end of the war witnessed the terrible consequences of unrighteousness.
