Meta Platforms has expanded its wearable technology portfolio with the launch of new smart glasses designed specifically for users who wear prescription lenses. Developed in collaboration with eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica, the latest Ray-Ban Meta Optics Styles combine advanced AI capabilities with everyday usability.
Price and Availability
The smart glasses have been introduced in two variants — Blazer Optics Gen 2 and Scriber Optics Gen 2 — priced at $499 (approximately ₹41,500). Pre-orders in the United States began on March 31, with official sales set to start from April 14.
The product will be available through Ray-Ban stores, its official website, and select retail outlets such as LensCrafters and Sunglass Hut. Meta has also confirmed plans to expand availability to markets including the UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, and the UAE. The India launch is expected later this year.
Camera, Audio, and AI Capabilities
The smart glasses are designed with a focus on comfort and customization, featuring a slim frame, adjustable nose pads, and flexible hinges. They support various lens options, including single vision, progressive, and transition lenses, allowing seamless indoor and outdoor use.
Equipped with a 12-megapixel camera, the device can capture photos and record videos in up to 3K resolution. A six-microphone system enhances audio quality for calls and recordings. Users can also listen to music via platforms like Spotify and Amazon Music, make calls, send messages, and interact with Meta AI using voice commands.
Upcoming AI Features and Enhancements
Meta is continuing to develop new AI-driven features for its smart glasses. One of the upcoming additions includes a nutrition tracking tool that will allow users to log their meals through photos or voice input, with AI providing personalized insights over time.
Another feature in development is a WhatsApp summary tool, which will enable users to quickly review conversations. Additionally, Meta is working on innovative capabilities such as neural handwriting, allowing users to send messages by writing on surfaces with their fingers.
Future updates are also expected to introduce display recording and real-time navigation features, offering directions directly through the glasses.
