Dasun Shanaka produced one of the most dramatic finishes in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026, claiming a sensational hat-trick and four wickets in the final four deliveries to guide the Seattle Orcas to a thrilling victory over the Texas Super Kings.
Defending a modest target of 122 runs, Seattle looked under pressure when Texas needed 15 runs from the final over with five wickets still in hand. Captain Marcus Stoinis entrusted Shanaka with the responsibility of bowling the decisive over, and the Sri Lankan all-rounder responded in spectacular fashion.
Match Turns in the Final Four Balls
The over began with Shubham Ranjane smashing a boundary off the first ball before taking a single on the second, leaving 10 runs required from the final four deliveries.
What followed was an extraordinary collapse.
Shanaka clean-bowled Donovan Ferreira on the third ball before dismissing Calvin Savage, who was caught by Shimron Hetmyer, on the fourth delivery.
With two wickets in two balls, Shanaka was on a hat-trick. He completed the feat by having Adam Milne caught behind by Tim Seifert, registering the first T20 hat-trick of his career and the second hat-trick of MLC 2026.
Shanaka wasn't done yet. On the final ball of the innings, he struck again, dismissing Amsi de Silva to finish with an incredible four wickets in four consecutive deliveries.
Seattle Clinch a Thrilling Victory
Batting first, the Seattle Orcas posted 121/9 in their 20 overs. In reply, the Texas Super Kings were restricted to 112/9, falling short by 9 runs after Shanaka's remarkable final over.
Shanaka finished with outstanding figures of 4 wickets for 26 runs in four overs and was deservedly named the Player of the Match for scripting one of the most memorable finishes of the tournament.
