On the first day of his two-day visit to Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set the stage for the 2025 Assembly elections, combining a message of development with a clear nationalist narrative. From inaugurating infrastructure projects to leading a grand roadshow and holding strategy sessions with BJP leaders, Modi’s visit was anything but ceremonial—it was a full-fledged political script for victory.
Development Meets Political Optics
Landing in Patna after a rally in West Bengal, PM Modi inaugurated the new terminal at Patna Airport and laid the foundation stone for Bihta Airport’s civil enclave. But beyond the development optics, he transitioned seamlessly into campaign mode, conducting a 4-kilometer roadshow through the city that drew massive crowds and high-pitched nationalist fervor.
‘Operation Sindoor’ Takes Center Stage
The roadshow, themed around ‘Operation Sindoor’, saw thousands donning saffron turbans and T-shirts branded with the operation’s logo. Props symbolizing BrahMos and Rafale missiles added to the spectacle, projecting a message of military might and patriotic pride. Patriotic songs, Indian attire, and red dresses worn by women echoed a carefully curated nationalistic atmosphere—an indication that the NDA will fight the Bihar elections under the banner of nationalism.
Strategizing Behind Closed Doors
At the BJP office in Patna, PM Modi convened a strategy session with party MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and senior leaders, delivering what many insiders are calling the “booth-level victory mantra.” Emphasizing grassroots mobilization, Modi told leaders:
“Victory begins and ends at the booth. Strengthen the party at the micro level.”
He urged each leader to create 100 videos per booth, actively use social media, and directly connect with the people. He also issued a stern warning to rebels contesting independently and reminded leaders to be loyal, patient, and committed.
Subtle Caste Messaging: A Visit to Deputy CM’s Home
In a move rich with political symbolism, PM Modi visited the home of Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha to attend his son's engagement ceremony. Beyond the personal gesture, it was a strategic signal to the influential Bhumihar community, a key BJP support base in Bihar.
The visit sent dual messages—that Modi values grassroots connections within his party and that the BJP remains invested in caste calculations, even as it promotes a nationalism-first narrative.
The Verdict
Modi’s first day in Bihar wasn’t just about inaugurations and processions—it was about mapping a political blueprint. With nationalism, development, and caste alignment as his tools, the Prime Minister has made it clear: the battle for Bihar 2025 has begun, and NDA plans to lead from the front.
