New Mahindra Thar to Launch Soon With More Powerful Features

The Mahindra Thar has a special place in the Indian SUV market, especially among young buyers. Now, Mahindra is preparing to launch the facelifted Thar (3-door) in the coming weeks with fresh styling and advanced features. While the company has not yet confirmed an official launch date, the updated model is expected to arrive by late September 2025. The SUV has already been spotted multiple times during test runs, giving away key details.

Bigger Screens, ADAS and Premium Features

The 2025 Mahindra Thar will be loaded with more technology than the current model. It is expected to feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system with a new user interface, an updated driver display, and a new electric steering wheel. Borrowing elements from the Thar Roxx, the facelift will also offer premium features such as:

  • 360-degree camera

  • Ventilated front seats

  • Ambient lighting

  • Wireless phone charger

  • Rear disc brakes

  • Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)

Refreshed Design

In terms of styling, the new Thar draws inspiration from the Thar Roxx. Updates include a redesigned grille with double-stacked slats, revised bumpers, new headlamps, alloy wheels, updated taillamps, and a fresh rear bumper. Mahindra may also add new exterior shades to the lineup, in addition to the current five color options – Deep Grey, Red Rage, Everest White, Desert Fury, Deep Forest, and Stealth Black.

Engine and Performance

Under the hood, the new Thar will continue with the same powertrain options as the current model:

  • 2.0L turbo petrol (152 bhp)

  • 1.5L turbo diesel (119 bhp)

  • 2.2L turbo diesel (130 bhp)

Transmission choices will also remain unchanged, with both RWD (rear-wheel drive) and 4WD (four-wheel drive) on offer.

What to Expect

The 2025 Mahindra Thar promises to be more feature-rich, tech-savvy, and stylish while retaining its rugged off-road character. With these updates, it is set to further strengthen its appeal in the lifestyle SUV segment.
