Ace filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has returned to the big screen with his much-anticipated film O’ Romeo, which hit theatres on February 13. Ever since its announcement, the film had generated strong buzz—thanks to Bhardwaj’s distinct storytelling style and a powerful cast led by Shahid Kapoor, Tripti Dimri, and Avinash Tiwary.

Audiences were particularly excited to see a darker, more intense side of Shahid Kapoor, which was clearly visible in the trailer—and the excitement translated into solid opening numbers at the box office.

Strong Start, Valentine’s Day Boost

O’ Romeo opened to a promising ₹8 crore on its first day. On Day 2, which coincided with Valentine’s Day, the film witnessed an impressive 44% jump, earning around ₹12 crore, clearly benefitting from the festive weekend and positive word of mouth.

Day 3 Dip Due to India–Pakistan Match

However, the film’s momentum slowed slightly on Day 3 (February 15). Sunday evening saw the high-voltage India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match, which reportedly impacted theatre footfalls across the country.

As per early estimates, O’ Romeo earned approximately ₹9 crore on its third day. With this, the film’s three-day total stands at around ₹30 crore, which is still considered a respectable performance.

Story, Performances Winning Praise

Apart from the lead trio, the film also stars Farida Jalal, Nana Patekar, Vikrant Massey, and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles.

Shahid Kapoor’s portrayal of Hussain Ustra—a fierce, conflicted character—has struck a chord with audiences. Tripti Dimri, playing Afsha, delivers a powerful performance as a woman driven by revenge after her husband’s death. The film’s blend of raw action, intense romance, and emotional depth is being widely appreciated.
