"One should have a heart like Rohit Sharma... Seen with Gautam Gambhir for the first time after losing captaincy, discussing during practice

Before the start of the ODI series against Australia, Team India players sweated it out during a practice session. Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir were seen discussing the situation.

New Delhi : Former Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma is returning to the team for the upcoming three-match series against Australia. Earlier this month, the BCCI removed Rohit from the captaincy and appointed Shubman Gill as the new ODI captain. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar personally informed Rohit about this big decision.

The Indian team, which left for the Australia tour, has started practice in Perth. On Thursday, Rohit Sharma was seen having a serious discussion with head coach Gautam Gambhir during a training session. Apart from this, he also batted in the nets with legendary batsman Virat Kohli. This picture shared by Star Sports on X caught the attention of fans, in which both the legends were seen practicing together for about half an hour.

Rohit-Virat at the last stage of their career

The Indian team arrived in Perth in two groups on Wednesday and Thursday. The white-ball series begins on October 19, featuring three ODIs and five T20Is. Both Kohli and Rohit have already retired from Test cricket and ended their T20 careers after winning the World Cup in Barbados last year. Therefore, this tour could be their last in Australia. Their participation in the 2027 ODI World Cup will depend on their fitness and form in the coming years.

The new captain has full faith in the veterans

New ODI captain Shubman Gill has expressed full confidence in the experienced players. He said that both of these players are very important to the team and their experience is invaluable. The rest of the team is also learning from these experienced players. Rohit Sharma, who led India to victory in the Champions Trophy earlier this year, has been included in the 15-member squad for the series starting on October 19. The team will complete its preparations for the series by participating in additional practice sessions on Friday and Saturday.
