A Chilling Testimony from Pahalgam: Religious Identity Decided Who Lived and Who Died
A brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has shocked the nation. What makes the incident even more horrifying is the revelation by a female tourist, who survived the attack but witnessed a targeted killing based on religion.
"They Saw the Bangles and Shot My Husband"
The survivor, still traumatized, called the Police Control Room (PCR) and shared her horrifying experience. She said the attackers noticed the red bangles (chooda) on her wrist – a symbol often associated with Hindu married women.
“My husband was standing nearby while I was eating bhel puri. A man came, looked at him, asked if he was Muslim, and then shot him,” she said through tears.
Attackers Asked Names and Religion Before Firing
According to her statement, the terrorists were not shooting randomly. They were asking each victim’s name and religion before pulling the trigger. This deliberate selection paints a dark picture of religious hatred fueling terrorism.
3–5 Minutes of Unimaginable Terror
The firing lasted for just 3 to 5 minutes but wreaked massive devastation. Around 26 tourists were killed, while several others sustained injuries. The wounded were rushed to Anantnag District Hospital for urgent treatment.
Massive Security Operation Launched
In response to the attack, the Indian Army's Victor Force, Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), and CRPF have launched a coordinated search operation in the area. Officials are racing against time to track down and neutralize the terrorists involved.
Nation Outraged Over Brutality
The survivor’s account, filled with grief and horror, has sparked nationwide outrage. Citizens, political leaders, and activists have taken to social media demanding swift justice and strict action against those responsible.
This heinous attack has once again highlighted the dangers of religiously motivated violence and the need for united, proactive steps to ensure the safety of every citizen – regardless of faith.
