Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the Chenab Bridge and addressed the issue of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, directly targeting Pakistan. During his speech, he accused Pakistan of being behind the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and said that such acts are meant to target humanity and Kashmiriyat. According to him, every time Jammu and Kashmir takes a step toward development, Pakistan tries to disrupt peace through terrorism.
He stated that the neighboring country stands against humanity, social harmony, and economic progress. As soon as Pakistan sees Kashmir moving towards prosperity, it resorts to terrorist attacks to destabilize the region. He further added that the Pahalgam attack on April 22 was an attempt to create religious unrest in India and damage the livelihood of the local population.
Pakistan reacted strongly to Modi’s statement. Its Foreign Office issued a response expressing disappointment and denied any involvement in the Pahalgam incident. It said that the Indian Prime Minister has once again blamed Pakistan without providing any credible evidence. According to the statement, Pakistan rejected the allegations and called them baseless.
Despite Pakistan's denial, sources suggest that Pakistan was directly involved in the April 22 attack. In response, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terrorist organizations operating from Pakistan. For four days, both sides exchanged fire and carried out drone attacks. Eventually, on May 10, a ceasefire agreement was reached between the two countries.
