Petrol Diesel Rate: Crude oil crosses $94, yet petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged in India

This is because state-owned oil companies are protecting customers from the impact of geopolitical tensions such as the US-Iran conflict.

India has a dynamic fuel-pricing system, under which petrol and diesel rates change daily at 6 a.m. However, oil marketing companies made the last major change on May 25, and prices have remained largely stable since then.

Meanwhile, global oil prices have seen a sharp rise. Brent crude oil rose 6.39% to close the week at $94.39 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained 5.66% to reach $87.06 per barrel. Uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz remains a major factor in global energy markets.

Against this backdrop, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly stressed the need for a solution through dialogue and reason. Iran's stance on the Strait of Hormuz remains a key factor for oil markets, while US officials have stated that efforts are underway to maintain energy supplies through the Persian Gulf.

Reports also suggest that India and Mauritius recently signed a five-year agreement under which Indian Oil Corporation will supply petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel to Mauritius to meet its needs.
