Farmers registered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme should keep their beneficiary details updated to avoid problems with future instalments. The scheme provides eligible landholding farmer families with financial assistance of ₹6,000 every year, transferred directly to their bank accounts in three instalments of ₹2,000 each.
The government has published an update on the scheme's 24th instalment, making this a useful time for beneficiaries to check their registration details, e-KYC status and bank account information.
24th Instalment Released: Over 9.34 Crore Farmers Receive ₹18,690 Crore
The 24th instalment was released on October 30, 2026, at an event in Banaskantha, Gujarat. More than 9.34 crore eligible farmers received financial assistance totalling over ₹18,690 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
With this release, cumulative payments under PM-KISAN have crossed ₹4.64 lakh crore. The Union Cabinet has also approved the continuation of the scheme until 2030-31.
How to Check Your PM-KISAN Payment Status
Farmers can check whether the latest instalment has been credited by following these steps:
-
Visit the official website: PM-KISAN portal.
-
Select the 'Know Your Status' option.
-
Enter your registration number.
-
Complete the OTP verification sent to your registered mobile number.
-
Check the payment status, bank name, transaction reference and date of credit.
The portal also provides information about financial-year-wise e-KYC status.
Is e-KYC Mandatory for PM-KISAN?
Yes. e-KYC is mandatory for registered beneficiaries. Farmers can complete the verification through three methods:
-
OTP-based e-KYC through the PM-KISAN portal or mobile application.
-
Biometric authentication at an authorised Common Service Centre.
-
Face authentication through the PM-KISAN mobile application.
Farmers who have difficulty completing online verification can visit their nearest authorised service centre for assistance.
Why Might Your ₹2,000 Instalment Be Delayed?
Registration under PM-KISAN does not automatically guarantee payment in every instalment. Payments may be withheld if verification identifies discrepancies or possible ineligibility.
Some cases specifically flagged by the government include:
-
Farmers who acquired land ownership after February 1, 2019.
-
Cases where multiple members of the same family are receiving benefits.
-
Beneficiary records requiring physical verification.
The government has stated that payments in suspected cases may remain temporarily withheld until verification is completed.
What Should Farmers Do If the Payment Has Not Arrived?
If the 24th instalment has not reached your bank account, first check the 'Know Your Status' section on the PM-KISAN portal. Verify your e-KYC, bank details and land-record status.
You can also use the Kisan e-Mitra chatbot available through the PM-KISAN digital platform to get information about registration, eligibility and payment-related queries.
Farmers should avoid sharing their OTP, ATM PIN or banking passwords with anyone claiming to help release the instalment.
