Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, eligible farmers receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually. However, in Bihar, the rules for farmers benefiting from this scheme, along with other government agricultural schemes, are becoming stricter. Simply having agricultural land in your name is not enough; a farmer ID or farmer card will also be required.

A large number of farmers in Bihar have yet to receive their Farmer IDs. In the first phase, the plan is to issue identity cards for 85.53 lakh farmers benefiting from the PM Kisan Yojana. Of these, IDs have been generated for 53.45 lakh farmers. Consequently, 32 lakh farmers have yet to receive their Farmer IDs. Despite special campaigns, this number hasn't decreased.

Which farmer may face problem?

Farmers who don't own land in their own names, as well as those who have moved out of the state for work, are facing difficulties in registering. In many places, the land is held in the name of their father or grandfather, which can also create problems for farmers who are actually farming. It has been reported that to register on the Bihar Farmer Registry Portal, an Aadhaar card with a mobile link, a mobile number, and details of the land in the farmer's own name are required.

Where will the Kisan Card be used?

The Kisan ID can be used to avail benefits like the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Kisan Credit Card, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, as well as various farming schemes of the central and state governments. Meanwhile, Singh, state secretary of the All India Kisan Mahasabha, has claimed that a large number of farmers in Bihar are sharecroppers and has demanded the registration of sharecroppers who are actually farming.
