Poco is preparing to expand its M8 series in India with the launch of the Poco M8x 5G. The company has confirmed that the smartphone will make its debut in the country on August 21 at 12 noon.
The phone is expected to focus on performance and thermal management, with Poco highlighting its new Snapdragon chipset, up to 12GB RAM and a triple cooling system.
Poco M8x 5G launch date and sale
The Poco M8x 5G will officially launch in India on August 21 at 12 noon.
The smartphone will be sold through Flipkart, according to the company. It will join the existing M8 series lineup in the Indian market.
One of the biggest highlights is the processor. Poco says the M8x 5G will be the first smartphone in India to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset.
Up to 12GB RAM and UFS 2.2 storage
Poco is positioning the M8x 5G as a performance-focused smartphone.
The phone will offer up to 12GB of RAM, including 6GB of virtual RAM. It is expected to use LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.
Poco also claims that the smartphone can achieve an AnTuTu score of more than 650,000, although real-world performance can vary depending on software, settings and usage.
Triple cooling system for better heat management
Another major feature is the phone's cooling system.
Poco says the M8x 5G will use a three-part thermal management setup consisting of:
-
12,439 sq. mm graphite cooling material
-
1,924 sq. mm copper foil
-
3.5W thermal gel
The company claims that this setup will help manage heat during demanding tasks such as gaming.
Poco is also promoting the phone as being optimized for up to 48 months of lag-free usage, although long-term performance will depend on software updates, battery health and usage patterns.
6.9-inch 120Hz display and 6,000mAh battery expected
Poco has not yet revealed every specification of the smartphone. However, earlier reports suggest that the M8x 5G could feature a 6.9-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The phone is also expected to come with a 6,000mAh battery and support 33W wired fast charging.
Some reports have mentioned a 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, although the complete configuration and pricing should become clearer at launch.
What could be the price?
The exact Indian price has not yet been officially announced.
A tipster has claimed that the Poco M8x 5G could be priced below ₹20,000. For comparison, the Poco M8 5G was launched with a starting price of ₹18,999, while the M8 Power 5G started at ₹24,999.
The final price and available variants will be confirmed during the official launch.
What to expect from the Poco M8x 5G
With a new Snapdragon chipset, high RAM capacity, a large battery and an extensive cooling setup, the Poco M8x 5G appears to be targeting users who want strong performance without moving into the premium price segment.
The display, cameras, storage configurations and final pricing will be important factors in determining how competitive the phone is when it launches in India on August 21.
