The year 2026 hasn’t been the smoothest start for Prabhas. His recent release The Raja Saab failed to impress at the box office and reportedly incurred heavy losses. However, fans need not worry—Prabhas has a packed lineup ahead, with several ambitious projects in the pipeline.
Currently, the actor is focused on Fauzi, a period drama directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. He had also begun work on Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, but that project is temporarily on hold as Fauzi is slated for release first.
Is a Diwali Release on the Cards?
According to recent reports, the makers of Fauzi are considering a Diwali 2026 release. While an official date has not yet been announced, this speculation has sparked excitement—and concern—because Diwali is already expected to see the release of Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited epic Ramayana.
If confirmed, this would set up a massive box office clash between two of India’s biggest stars. Industry insiders suggest that timing is crucial, as Spirit is expected to arrive in March 2027, meaning there needs to be a sufficient gap between the two Prabhas releases. If Fauzi skips Diwali, it may not hit theatres until mid or late 2027.
What Is Fauzi About?
Fauzi is described as a pre-independence period entertainer with a strong emotional core set against the backdrop of war. Reports suggest that Prabhas will be seen in a double role, adding to the intrigue surrounding the film. Post-production work is currently underway, and the film is expected to be completed by July or August this year.
The film stars Imanvi Ismail as the female lead, along with an ensemble cast that includes Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Chaitra J. Achar, and Jaya Prada in pivotal roles.
What Happens Next?
With post-production nearing completion and release plans still under discussion, all eyes are on the makers’ final decision. A Diwali face-off between Fauzi and Ramayana would undoubtedly be one of the biggest cinematic events of the year. Whether Prabhas chooses to take on this high-stakes clash or opts for a safer release window remains to be seen.
