Prashant Kishor Questions Ceasefire with Pakistan: “We Were Winning, Should Have Continued for Two More Days”

Prashant Kishor, the election strategist turned politician and founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, has openly questioned the central government’s decision to accept a ceasefire with Pakistan. Speaking recently, Kishor asked why India agreed to halt operations when Pakistan was reportedly on the back foot.

Referring to a statement by India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Kishor pointed out that the ceasefire was initiated at Pakistan’s request. “If Pakistan wanted a ceasefire, it clearly means India was in a strong position and was defeating them,” Kishor said. “So why did the government agree to stop the operation so soon? We should have continued for at least two more days.”

Trust in India’s Foreign Minister Over Others

While former US President Donald Trump claimed credit for brokering the ceasefire, Kishor dismissed this, saying, “I trust our Foreign Minister, not Trump. Our minister is highly educated and intelligent, and he clearly confirmed that the ceasefire came from Pakistan’s side. Trump is probably expecting a peace prize, but why should we trust him?”

“Pakistan Should Have Been Taught a Lesson”

Kishor also criticized the government’s handling of the situation, arguing that both the Indian Army and the public were prepared for a prolonged operation. He highlighted the recent mock drill with sirens as evidence of readiness. “Instead, the government agreed to a ceasefire and now is distributing vermilion boxes as a distraction. That won’t make any difference,” he said.

He urged the government to reconsider such decisions in the future, emphasizing that a stronger response was warranted to “teach Pakistan a lesson.”
