Rajasthan Government's big decision: Under the RGHS scheme, up to 2,000 tests will be conducted in OPDs without prior permission

The government has taken a major decision regarding the RGHS scheme run by the government for many people including government employees, pensioners, MLAs, former MLAs and has issued new guidelines from today. Now the new government guidelines have come out regarding the regular checkups done under RGHS. Under the new system, tests up to Rs 2,000 can be done without any prior permission, whereas for tests more than Rs 2000, prior permission will have to be taken through the RGHS portal.

According to media reports, the circular issued by the Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency (RGHS), under the Rajasthan government's Medical and Health Department, aims to make the approval process for outpatient and outpatient (OPD) tests more transparent and faster. These rules are effective today.

What are the new guidelines?

The new guidelines clarify that pre-authorization will not be required in emergency cases. In such cases, doctors will be able to perform necessary tests immediately based on the patient's condition. However, the hospital or doctor will be required to upload all clinical documents related to the patient and the justification for the tests to the RGHS portal. If the total cost of a patient's OPD test exceeds ₹2,000, the hospital will be required to apply for pre-authorization on the RGHS portal.
