Rajasthan News: New Rules Issued for Rental Vehicles in Jaipur, Strict Action on Violation — Know These 12 Guidelines

Jaipur: The Jaipur Police Commissionerate has rolled out new restrictions and rules for rental and private vehicles in light of their misuse in criminal activities. From April 17, any violation of these norms will result in strict police action under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 223.
Additional Commissioner of Police, Dr. Rameshwar Singh, issued the notification banning private vehicles from being rented out. As per the order, only vehicles licensed under the Rent A Cab Scheme, 1989 will be legally allowed for hire within Jaipur Police Commissionerate limits.
The 12 Key Rules Explained:
1️⃣ Only vehicles under the Rent A Cab Scheme, 1989, with a valid license, can be rented.
2️⃣ The license under the scheme will be valid for 5 years and must be renewed before expiry.
3️⃣ Only vehicles with permits issued under Section 88(9) of the Motor Vehicles Act will be eligible for rent.
4️⃣ Private vehicles are strictly prohibited from being rented out in Jaipur.
5️⃣ Rental agencies must maintain a 24x7 active telephone service.
6️⃣ All rented vehicles must have complete and valid documents, and only roadworthy vehicles can be used.
7️⃣ Operators must cooperate fully during police checks and inspections.
8️⃣ Strict compliance with all central and state laws and guidelines is mandatory.
9️⃣ Customer's address, valid ID proof, and contact details must be recorded before handing over the vehicle.
🔟 Details of all co-travelers must also be collected along with their identification documents.
1️⃣1️⃣ Agencies must maintain a physical logbook recording journey details, passengers’ names, addresses, contact numbers, purpose, and destinations.
1️⃣2️⃣ In case of any suspicion regarding illegal or unwanted activities, operators must inform the nearest police station or control room immediately.
The order will remain effective from April 17, 2025, until June 16, 2025, unless revoked earlier.
