Rajasthan Weather: Jaisalmer Sizzles at 46°C, Sikar Receives Heavy Rain; IMD Issues Fresh Alert

Rajasthan is witnessing extreme weather variations this April. In Jaisalmer, temperatures soared past 46°C, marking the second-highest reading for April in the past 40 years. The previous record was 46.1°C on April 30, 2018.

Meanwhile, the effect of a Western Disturbance brought unexpected rain to Sikar. Around 5:30 AM on Thursday, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms lashed the area, offering residents a brief respite from the scorching heat.

Some Relief from Heat
For the past couple of days, the entire state has been battling heatwave conditions. The sudden rain in Sikar and nearby areas has led to a slight drop in temperatures, though the overall heat is expected to persist.

Red Alert for Heatwave
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for severe heatwave conditions in Bikaner, Nagaur, Churu, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Jaipur, and nearby areas. Surface winds may blow at speeds of 30-40 km/h, with chances of light rain and thunderstorms at isolated places.

Temperatures May Cross 47°C Soon
Weather experts warn that temperatures in Jaisalmer might cross 47°C in the coming days. Relief is expected only after April 19. According to Agri-Weather Scientist Atul Galav, hot winds are likely to persist even during the night hours.

Heatwave Safety Advisory Issued
The Disaster Management and Civil Defence Department has urged the public to stay alert and take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related health risks. Authorities have appealed to residents to avoid stepping out during peak heat hours and stay hydrated.
