Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has been in the spotlight for quite some time. After the massive success of Animal in 2023, the actor has not released a new film, but expectations are sky-high for his upcoming projects Ramayana and Love and War. While Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film is still under production, shooting for Ramayana has already been completed—and the first response to the film is now out.
According to reports, the first test screening of Ramayana was held in Los Angeles, nearly 15,000 kilometers away from India. The early feedback suggests that the film has left a strong impression on viewers.
First screening held in Los Angeles
Produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is said to be made on a massive budget of around ₹4,000 crore. The film is co-produced by Yash, who will also be seen playing the role of Ravana. Sai Pallavi essays the role of Sita, while Sunny Deol portrays Hanuman. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
A report published in The Week revealed that the test screening took place at the Cinemark Playa Vista theatre. A selected audience between the ages of 18 and 60 watched the first cut of the film.
Audience reaction is overwhelmingly positive
Those who attended the screening reportedly praised the film’s storytelling, grand scale, and visual spectacle. Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Ram and the overall cinematic treatment received special appreciation. The film’s visuals and execution were described as impressive, especially considering it was only the first cut.
VFX work still underway
It is important to note that the screening featured an early version of the film. Reports suggest that extensive VFX work is still in progress and will continue for nearly 300 days. Ramayana is being made as a two-part epic—its first installment is scheduled to release this Diwali, while the second part is expected to arrive on Diwali 2027.
With such positive early feedback and immense scale, Ramayana has already become one of the most anticipated Indian films in recent times.
