Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana Triggers Rs 1000 Crore Market Boom Even Before Release

Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Ramayana is making headlines even before its release — not for its story or cast alone, but for its massive financial impact. The mythological epic has already generated a market movement worth over Rs 1000 crore, thanks to a single first-look video that set off a frenzy in the stock market.

Produced by Namit Malhotra, the film is being made under his company Prime Focus, which is listed on the Indian Stock Exchange. As soon as the first glimpse of the film was released, Prime Focus’s stock witnessed a dramatic 54% jump, pushing the company’s market capitalization up by more than Rs 1000 crore within 48 hours.

Ramayana is being produced in two parts with a combined budget of Rs 1600 croreRs 835 crore on the first and Rs 700 crore on the second. Scheduled for release on Diwali 2026, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash reportedly as Ravan. The first-look visuals generated such hype that investors poured into Prime Focus stocks, leading to a sharp spike from Rs 113.47 to Rs 176 in just a few days.

From June 25 to July 1, the share price surged to Rs 149.69, after which the board approved the allotment of 462.7 million equity shares. By July 3, the share price peaked at Rs 176, taking Prime Focus’s market cap from Rs 4,638 crore to Rs 5,641 crore — an increase of over Rs 1,000 crore. By market close, the price settled at Rs 169, with a revised market cap of about Rs 5,200 crore.

In the midst of this financial boom, it has also been revealed that Ranbir Kapoor himself has invested around Rs 20 crore in Prime Focus. According to reports, he has acquired 1.25 million shares in the company as a non-promoter investor. This move further strengthens his association with the project, not just as the lead actor, but also as a financial backer.

With its huge budget, ambitious scale, and now a proven financial ripple effect, Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films — even before hitting the silver screen.
