Rare Moment in Cricket: Father–Son Duo Shine Together in BPL, Mohammad Nabi Reacts to Special Partnership

Cricket witnessed a rare and heart-warming moment in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2025–26 season when Afghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi shared the crease with his 19-year-old son Hasan Eisakhil. The father–son duo stitched together a rapid 53-run partnership, creating a moment rarely seen in professional cricket.

The special partnership came during the match between Noakhali Express and Dhaka Capitals at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Eisakhil and Nabi added 53 runs for the fourth wicket in just 30 balls, thrilling fans in the stands and viewers watching around the world.

Eisakhil shines on debut

Remarkably, this was Hasan Eisakhil’s first-ever appearance in the BPL. The young batter made the occasion memorable with a superb knock of 92 runs, which proved decisive as Noakhali Express posted 184/7 in their 20 overs. Dhaka Capitals failed to get close, and Noakhali registered a convincing 41-run victory in the 22nd match of the season.

Nabi contributed 17 runs, but the spotlight firmly belonged to his son, whose maturity and composure stood out in a high-pressure league debut.

Nabi reacts to playing alongside his son

Speaking after the match, Mohammad Nabi expressed deep pride and emotion about the moment. He said he had waited a long time to share the field with his son and had prepared him mentally to become a professional cricketer.

“When we were batting together, we were discussing the situation—what might happen next, whether the next ball would be fast or slow. He read the game very well and played accordingly,” Nabi said. He also praised Eisakhil’s domestic performances over the last two years, including centuries in first-class and one-day cricket, strong showings in domestic T20s, the Shpageeza Cricket League, and the Nepal Premier League.

“The way he has performed recently has been excellent. Hopefully, we’ll see him in the national team soon,” Nabi added.

Eisakhil on fulfilling his father’s dream

Hasan Eisakhil said that playing alongside his father was a dream come true for both of them. “It has always been our dream to play together at the highest level, and that’s why I’m working hard,” he said.

On comparisons with his father’s batting style, Eisakhil clarified that while people see similarities, he doesn’t consciously try to imitate Nabi. “I don’t think I bat like him, but others say I do,” he added with a smile.
