Renault is preparing for a major expansion in the Indian automobile market. The French carmaker has outlined an ambitious product strategy for India and is working on several new models across different segments.
As part of its global FutuREady strategy, Renault plans to develop seven new models and two new platforms specifically for the Indian market. These platforms are expected to support multiple powertrain options, including petrol, CNG, electric and hybrid technology.
After introducing the new-generation Duster, Renault is now preparing to launch four more models in India by 2027. Here's what the company could bring to the market.
Duster Hybrid Could Arrive Around Diwali 2026
One of the most anticipated upcoming models is the Duster Hybrid, which is expected to arrive around Diwali 2026.
The SUV is expected to use a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine combined with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery. The hybrid setup could produce around 160 bhp of power and 172 Nm of torque.
Renault calls this hybrid technology E-Tech and has highlighted the influence of its Formula 1 experience in developing the system. If launched as expected, the hybrid Duster could give buyers another option in the growing hybrid SUV segment.
7-Seater Duster for Bigger Families
Renault is also reportedly preparing a 7-seater version of the Duster for India.
The larger SUV is expected to use the same platform as the five-seater Duster while receiving a longer body to accommodate a third row of seats. Its overall design, engines and features could remain closely related to the standard Duster.
With additional seating space, the upcoming model could appeal particularly to families looking for a practical three-row SUV.
New Sub-4-Metre SUV Could Be Called Bridger
Another important addition to Renault's India portfolio could be a new sub-4-metre SUV, reportedly carrying the Bridger name.
The SUV is expected to be developed specifically with the Indian market in mind and could use Renault's R-GMP platform. The company may offer multiple powertrain choices, including petrol, hybrid and electric versions.
The petrol variant could share some engine technology with the Kiger, while the SUV's design is expected to have a tall and boxy appearance inspired by Renault's earlier concept designs.
New-Generation Kwid Also in the Pipeline
Renault isn't ignoring the small-car segment either. A significantly updated version of the Kwid is reportedly under development, with testing already underway.
The new Kwid could be launched by the end of 2027 and may borrow several styling elements from the electric Kwid E-Tech. Expected changes could include a redesigned front end, a closed-style grille, updated headlamps and a revised bumper.
Inside the cabin, Renault could introduce a new TFT instrument cluster along with additional features to give the entry-level hatchback a more modern feel.
Renault's India Line-Up Could Get a Major Overhaul
With a hybrid Duster, a three-row SUV, a new sub-4-metre SUV and an updated Kwid, Renault appears to be preparing products across multiple segments.
The company's upcoming portfolio could give Indian buyers more choices between petrol, CNG, hybrid and electric powertrains, depending on which versions Renault ultimately brings to the market.
