India’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is finally back on the field after a three-month break — and his return began with a win! Leading India A against South Africa A, Pant marked his comeback by winning the toss in the first unofficial Test match.
Pant’s return is significant not just for fans but also for the selectors, as they are closely monitoring his match fitness ahead of India’s upcoming Test series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared the update on social media, announcing that India A would bowl first after Pant’s successful toss call.
Injury and Recovery
Pant had suffered a leg injury in July 2025 during India’s tour of England, which forced him to stay away from cricket for several months. His rehabilitation process was closely supervised by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Now, his inclusion in the India A squad is aimed at helping him get valuable match practice before rejoining the senior national team.
