India’s recent successes at major ICC tournaments—the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy—have been marked by strong leadership from coaches Rahul Dravid and Gautam Gambhir, alongside captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit recently spoke about these victories, emphasizing that winning was a collective effort built over years of hard work and team unity, rather than the achievement of any single individual.
At the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards, Rohit shared that all players in the Champions Trophy squad focused on winning, challenging themselves, and maintaining humility, building on a process that he developed with Rahul Dravid in preparation for the T20 World Cup. This approach seamlessly continued into their Champions Trophy campaign under Gautam Gambhir’s coaching.
Rohit expressed his deep connection with the team, noting that their journey to the title was long and included several close calls before achieving ultimate success. He stressed that such accomplishments required commitment and belief from every team member, not just a few star players.
Currently, Rohit has been away from international cricket since the Champions Trophy but is set to make a comeback in India’s upcoming ODI series against Australia. This series will mark India’s first ODI action since their Champions Trophy triumph, with Rohit participating as a specialist batsman.
