Actually, the Indian team was to tour Bangladesh in August next month, but it was cancelled due to political tension. After which the Sri Lankan Cricket Board proposed to BCCI to tour their country.
Virat-Rohit will go to Sri Lanka
BCCI has not yet responded to this offer. If this series happens, fans can see Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in action. Both the veterans have retired from T20 and Test formats and play only ODI format. Sri Lanka has prepared a schedule of three ODIs and three T20 matches and sent it to BCCI. The Indian team was going to play the same number of matches in Bangladesh.
BCCI has not agreed yet
According to the report of Cricbuzz, the possibility of Sri Lanka tour will largely depend on the decision taken on Asia Cup. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia will be present during the Lord's Test in London this week and there is a possibility of talks with the players, head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. BCCI will give any response on Sri Lanka Cricket's request only after these discussions.
Decision on Asia Cup in 2-3 days
The decision on Asia Cup is likely to come in the next two-three days. This will be the first time after the recent military tension between the two countries that India and Pakistan will be face to face on the cricket field. Being the host of the tournament, the final decision will have to be taken by BCCI, which will be based on the advice of the Indian Government. Asia Cup can be held between 17th and 27th September, provided it gets formal approval from the Indian Government, which has not been received yet.
