₹1300 Crore Film Varanasi: Priyanka Chopra Reveals Shooting Status After 14 Months on Set

One of India’s most ambitious big-budget films, Varanasi, directed by master filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli, has been in production for a long time and continues to generate massive buzz. Made on a staggering budget of ₹1300 crore, the film stars Priyanka Chopra opposite Mahesh Babu, with Prithviraj Sukumaran reportedly playing the antagonist. Veteran actor Prakash Raj has also confirmed his presence in the film, adding further weight to the cast.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for an update on when the long shoot will finally wrap up—and now Priyanka Chopra herself has shared a major update. The actress recently revealed that she has already been shooting for the film for the past 14 months, making it one of the longest projects of her career in recent years.
Currently busy promoting her Hollywood film The Bluff, which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Priyanka appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she spoke candidly about her return to Indian cinema with Varanasi. She shared her excitement about working with Rajamouli, calling the project a grand cinematic adventure and noting that she hadn’t done an Indian film in nearly six to seven years.
Priyanka also revealed that Varanasi is being shot in IMAX format, making it a visual spectacle designed especially for IMAX theatres worldwide. She confirmed that the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 7, 2027, raising expectations even higher among fans.
Giving a clear update on the shooting timeline, Priyanka said that despite already completing 14 months of filming, the team still has around six more months of shooting left. This means the epic project will span nearly 20 months of production, underlining the massive scale and meticulous detailing involved. With Rajamouli at the helm and such a powerhouse cast, Varanasi is shaping up to be one of the most awaited Indian films of the decade.
