Satyapal Malik: CBI filed chargesheet in Rs 2200 crore corruption case, former governor admitted to hospital

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday filed a chargesheet against former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik and five others in a case of alleged corruption in the award of works worth Rs 2,200 crore for the Kiru Hydroelectric Project. The CBI has submitted its report before a special court after a three-year investigation. Let us tell you that the CBI had registered the case in April 2022 on the request of the Jammu and Kashmir government. Malik was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir from August 2018 to October 2019.

Malik admitted in hospital

After the chargesheet was filed in this case, Malik wrote on Instagram that he is admitted in the hospital and is not in a position to talk to anyone. The former governor said that he is getting calls from many well-wishers, which he is unable to answer.

A bribe of Rs 300 crore was offered

Malik was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir from 23 August 2018 to 30 October 2019. He had claimed that he was offered a bribe of Rs 300 crore to clear two files, including one related to this project. But he had denied the corruption charges against him after the CBI conducted searches last year.

I complained and my house was raided

Malik said that instead of investigating the people against whom he had complained and who were involved in corruption, the CBI raided his residence. On this he had written on the X, 'They will get nothing except 4-5 kurtas and pyjamas. The dictator is trying to scare me by misusing government agencies. I am a farmer's son, I will neither be afraid nor bow down.'

Names of these people in the charge sheet

The central agency has registered a case against Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Ltd (CVPPPL)'s then chairman Naveen Kumar Choudhary, M S Babu, M K Mittal and Arun Kumar Mishra and other officials besides construction company Patel Engineering Ltd.
