Good News! School Timings Changed Due to Rising Heat, New Orders Issued for All Schools

Agra: In view of the rising temperatures and ongoing heatwave in Uttar Pradesh, school timings in Agra district have been revised. As per the new directive, all schools will now operate from 7:00 AM to 12:00 Noon until further notice.

This decision was taken by District Basic Education Officer Jitendra Kumar Gond to ensure the safety and well-being of students, especially after growing demands from parents and teachers’ associations. The new schedule is expected to bring much-needed relief to both students and their families during the harsh summer months.

Heatwave Forces Change in School Timings

As the mercury continues to rise, heatwave conditions have made it increasingly difficult for children to attend schools during the afternoon hours. Responding to these concerns, the District Basic Education Officer has issued instructions to all council and other board-affiliated schools to modify their operational hours.

The order highlights the importance of student health and safety and will remain effective until further updates. Schools have also been directed to arrange for adequate drinking water and shade facilities on their premises.

Outdoor Activities Suspended

Along with the new timings, the administration has also prohibited outdoor physical activities for students during school hours to prevent heat-related health risks. Block Education Officers will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of these instructions.

Teachers’ Unions Welcomed the Decision

The United Teachers Association (UTA), through General Secretary Rajiv Verma, welcomed the move, stating that the organization had long been demanding revised timings considering the safety of students. Similarly, Brijesh Dixit, General Secretary of the Primary Teachers' Union, emphasized the need for smooth electricity supply in schools lacking proper infrastructure.

Municipal Corporation Steps Up for Animals and Birds

Apart from the schools, the Agra Municipal Corporation is also actively working to ease the suffering of animals and birds in the city. Under the Heatwave Action Plan, water ponds are being set up at key locations including temples, parks, and market areas. Animal lovers and volunteers are being engaged to ensure these water sources remain filled throughout the summer.

Municipal Corporation’s Animal Welfare Officer, Dr. Ajay Singh, stated that the initiative is aimed at saving countless lives and fulfilling the society’s moral duty toward helpless creatures.
