Shani Dev: If Shanidev is pleased, he can turn a pauper into a king. However, if he casts his evil eye on someone, their life becomes beset by troubles. However, it is said that Shanidev's evil eye does not fall on devotees of Hanuman and Bholenath. Let's find out the reason behind this.
Shani Dev: In Hinduism, Shani Dev is considered the giver of the fruits of karma and the god of justice. In astrology, Shani Dev is seen as an important planet that transits from one zodiac sign to another every two and a half years. Shani Dev rewards and punishes people according to their actions. Saturday is dedicated to Shani Dev. Special worship is performed on this day.
People become frightened at the mere mention of Shanidev. This is due to his crooked gaze. It is believed that if Shanidev is pleased, he can turn a pauper into a king. However, if he casts his evil eye on a person, his life becomes beset with troubles. However, it is said that Shanidev's evil gaze does not fall on devotees of Hanuman and Bholenath. Let's find out the reason behind this.
Hanuman ji freed him from prison
According to legend, when Hanuman arrived in Lanka in search of Sita, he found Shanidev imprisoned there. Hanuman then freed him from Ravana's captivity. Pleased with this, Shanidev granted Hanuman a boon that he would never harm those who worship him. This is why worshipping Hanuman is recommended during Sade Sati and Dhaiyya.
According to another legend, Shanidev, overcome with pride, attempted to interrupt Hanumanji's chanting. He made numerous attempts to disturb Hanumanji's meditation. He even tried to intimidate him by showing off his power, but it had no effect on Hanumanji. Shanidev's anger then reached the seventh heaven. Finally, Shanidev challenged Hanumanji.
Shanidev was thrown on the stones
Hanuman then pleaded with Lord Rama not to disturb his peace. However, Shanidev grabbed Hanuman's arm. In anger, Bajrangbali wrapped Shanidev in his tail. Even then, Shanidev continued to challenge him. Shanidev retorted, "Not only can’t you, even your Lord Ram harm me." Enraged, Hanuman began pelting him with stones.
Finally, Shanidev apologized to Bajrangbali. Hanumanji then told him not to repeat such insolence in the future or harass his devotees. Since then, Shanidev has refrained from casting evil eyes on Hanumanji's devotees or harassing them. According to mythology, Lord Shiva bestowed upon Shanidev the position of Karma Magistrate. Lord Surya granted him lordship over various worlds.
That is why Shiva does not cast an evil eye on his devotees.
Even after this, he conquered other worlds. Then, the Sun God requested Lord Shiva to show Shanidev the right path. Lord Shiva then sent his followers to fight Shanidev, but Shanidev defeated them all. Finally, Shiva fought with Shanidev. During the battle, Shanidev cast an evil eye on Shiva. Then, Lord Shiva opened his third eye and destroyed Shanidev.
Lord Shiva rendered Shanidev unconscious with a precise strike of his trident and hung him upside down from a peepal tree for 19 years. During this time, Shanidev continued to worship Lord Shiva, which is why it is said that Shanidev never casts his evil eye on devotees of Lord Shiva.
