Supriya Sule’s Blunt Response to Congress on Special Session Demand: "Country Comes First"

After strongly representing India on the global stage and cornering Pakistan internationally, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule returned to India and made a big revelation regarding the Congress' demand for a special session of Parliament. Speaking on the issue, Sule emphasized the need for national unity in the wake of the recent terrorist attacks by Pakistan, rather than indulging in political confrontation.

Congress Demanded a Special Session — Here’s What Supriya Sule Said

The Congress party, along with 15 other opposition parties, had sent a joint letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week. The letter sought a special Parliament session to discuss recent terror attacks in Poonch, Uri, and Rajouri, and to address concerns over ceasefire declarations and national security. However, the NCP (SP) was noticeably absent from the list of signatories.

Clarifying her stance, Supriya Sule said that she was abroad as part of an official delegation when Congress reached out to her. "I advised them to wait until I return and all delegations are back. I suggested we hold a discussion first and take a joint decision. But the letter was sent before I returned, so I couldn't sign it," she explained.

“Not the Time for Petty Politics”: Sule Urges for Unity

Sule made it clear that now is not the time for political point-scoring, stating, "Our party has decided to stand with the government until the entire operation is complete. We will not say a word against the government during this critical period." She added, "This is an issue of India’s national interest. First comes the country, then the state, then the party, and only after that, the family."

She stressed the importance of unity against terrorism, saying India must show the world that it stands united during such attacks. Sule also underlined the value of healthy debate in a democracy but pointed out that timing is crucial: "Every issue should be debated, but at the right time."

Congress and AAP Push for Special Session Post-Operation Sindoor

The demand for a special session gained momentum after Operation Sindoor, with opposition parties wanting the government to inform Parliament and the public about the actual situation. AAP MP Sanjay Singh also wrote to the Prime Minister, backing the Congress’ demand. However, there has been no official response from the government so far.

Meanwhile, the Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin on July 21, where these critical issues are expected to be raised and debated.
