Team India and World Cricket Mourn Ahmedabad Plane Crash with Moment of Silence During WTC Final

The third day of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final began under a solemn mood as players from both Australia and South Africa paid tribute to the victims of the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.

Before the start of play at Lord’s, all players wore black armbands and observed a minute’s silence to honor the 241 lives lost in the tragic crash on June 12. The gesture was also echoed by Team India, currently engaged in an intra-squad match with India A, where players similarly donned black bands and held a moment of silence before their game.

The cricketing world united in grief, showing solidarity with the victims and their families during a difficult time.

On the sporting front, Australia is aiming to set a target of over 200 runs for South Africa in the fourth innings—a challenging chase considering the history at Lord’s, where only four successful run chases beyond 200 have occurred in the final innings. The WTC final is shaping up to be an intense and exciting contest.
