Team India Poised to Make History: First-Ever T20 Series Win Against England Within Reach

The Indian women’s cricket team is on the cusp of creating history in England. With two back-to-back wins in the ongoing T20 series, Team India is one victory away from clinching their first-ever T20I series win against England.

3rd T20 Showdown at Kennington Oval

The final T20 match of the three-match series will be played on July 4 at the Kennington Oval in London. Having already secured victories in the first two encounters, the Indian team now has a golden chance to seal the series with a clean sweep—and script a historic achievement.

India’s First-Ever Series Win Against England?

Until now, India has never won a T20I series against England, either at home or abroad. Their only T20I victory before this series dates back to Derby in 2006, but it wasn’t part of a series win.

Now, with momentum firmly on their side, Harmanpreet Kaur’s squad looks confident and in form—a rare moment where both the batting and bowling departments are firing together.

Match 1: Mandhana’s Mayhem, Charani’s Carnage

In the first match, Smriti Mandhana smashed a blazing 112, helping India post a massive 210/5. She was well supported by Harleen Deol’s 43. In reply, England crumbled under pressure, bowled out for just 113 runs, despite Nat Sciver-Brunt’s 66-run knock. Sri Charani starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets.

Match 2: Kaur & Rodrigues Seal the Deal

In the second T20I, Amanjot Kaur remained unbeaten on 63, while Jemimah Rodrigues also notched up 63 runs, helping India set a target of 181. England could manage only 157 runs in response, giving India a 24-run victory.

England's Struggles Continue

For England, the series has been disappointing. Despite boasting names like Tammy Beaumont, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Sophie Ecclestone, the team has struggled—especially at the top of the order. Openers Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge have failed to deliver, and the bowling attack hasn’t managed to put the Indian batters under pressure.

To avoid a whitewash, England will have to stage a dramatic turnaround in both departments in the final match.
