Tecno has expanded its Pova 8 lineup in India with the launch of the new Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G. The smartphone comes with several eye-catching features, including a large 6,500mAh battery, 45W fast charging, a 144Hz AMOLED display and a 50-megapixel primary camera.

Its biggest highlight, however, is the Alive Matrix display on the rear, which uses 177 mini-LEDs to create different lighting effects.

Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G Price and Sale Date

The Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G has been launched in India at a starting price of ₹49,999.

The company is also offering an instant cashback of up to ₹3,000 on select credit card, debit card and UPI transactions.

The phone will go on sale from August 21 through Flipkart and will be available in three colour options:

• Arc White

• Graphite Black

• Tundra Green

144Hz AMOLED Display

The smartphone features a 6.78-inch Hyperlux AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,208 × 2,644 pixels.

The screen supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, which should provide smoother animations, scrolling and gaming compared with standard 60Hz displays.

The panel can reportedly reach a peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits and supports 1.07 billion colours.

Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate

Under the hood, the Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset.

The 4nm octa-core processor has a maximum clock speed of 2.6GHz and is paired with an ARM Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. Tecno has also included its P1 graphics chip and a 5,000-square-millimetre vapor chamber designed to help manage heat during demanding tasks.

The smartphone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16. Tecno says it will receive two major Android OS upgrades along with three years of security updates.

177 Mini-LEDs on the Back

The most unusual feature of the phone is its Alive Matrix rear display.

The system uses 177 mini-LEDs to produce different lighting patterns and effects. According to Tecno, the lighting system can create "breathing light" effects across more than 49 different situations.

This could allow notifications and other phone activities to be represented through different lighting effects on the back panel.

50MP Camera With OIS

For photography, the Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G features a 50-megapixel primary rear camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS).

The main camera is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, while selfies and video calls are handled by a 13-megapixel front camera.

The inclusion of OIS should help reduce the effect of hand movement while taking photographs or recording videos.

6,500mAh Battery With 45W Charging

The smartphone packs a large 6,500mAh battery, which should provide plenty of capacity for extended daily use.

It supports 45W wired fast charging, allowing users to recharge the large battery more quickly than with standard charging technology.

The Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G supports a wide range of connectivity options, including:
