Indian players have dominated the Team of the Tournament for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has also been named captain of the team.
After winning the historic final of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, the Indian women's team's success has been highlighted in the International Cricket Council's Team of the Tournament. Three players from world champions India - opener Smriti Mandhana, middle-order batswoman Jemimah Rodrigues and Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma - have found a place in this prestigious team.
Runners-up South Africa's captain Laura Wolvaardt has been named captain of the Team of the Tournament for her record-breaking performance of 571 runs. Three players from South Africa (Wolvaardt, Marizanne Kapp, Nadine de Klerk) and three players from semi-finalists Australia (Anbel Sutherland, Ash Gardner, Elana King) have also been included in the team.
Indian stars shine
- Deepti Sharma: She was named Player of the Tournament. She scored 215 runs and took the highest number of wickets in the tournament, 22. Her average was 20.40, and her 58 runs and 5/39 in the final against South Africa played a crucial role in India's victory.
- Smriti Mandhana: Mandhana was the second-leading run-scorer in the tournament with 434 runs at an average of 54.25. Her 109-run century against New Zealand and her consistency were key reasons for her inclusion in the squad.
- Jemimah Rodrigues: Jemimah scored 292 runs at an average of 58.40. Her unbeaten 127 in the semi-final against Australia secured her place in this team.
Other key players and performances
South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt scored 571 runs at an average of 71.37, including a match-winning century of 169 against England. All-rounder Marizanne Kapp also found a place, scoring 208 runs and taking 12 wickets. Australia's Ash Gardner scored 328 runs (average 82) and took 7 wickets, while fast bowler Annelle Sutherland was the second-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets (average 15.82). Leg-spinner Elana King took 13 wickets against South Africa, including record figures of 7/18.
Pakistan's Sidra Nawaz was included as wicketkeeper for her outstanding keeping performance (most 8 dismissals), while England's Sophie Ecclestone bolsters the team's bowling with 16 wickets. England's Nat Sciver-Brunt was selected as the 12th player. This team brings together the best performers in women's cricket, building on the success of this World Cup season.
