Kannada superstar Yash’s much-awaited film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has landed in controversy soon after the release of its teaser. While the teaser generated strong buzz online, it also sparked objections over certain intimate scenes, eventually leading to a formal complaint.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film has been in the spotlight for months. Yash, who rose to nationwide fame with the KGF franchise, plays the lead role of a character named ‘Raya’. After the makers unveiled character looks, the teaser was released recently, featuring scenes that some viewers described as objectionable.
Following the teaser’s release, the women’s wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) raised strong objections. The party’s women’s wing submitted a complaint to the Karnataka State Women’s Commission, alleging that certain visuals in the teaser are obscene and could have a negative impact on society. The complaint claims that the scenes insult the dignity of women and children.
The AAP women’s wing has urged the State Women’s Commission to direct the Karnataka government to withdraw or cancel the teaser at the earliest. Another major concern raised is that the teaser was released publicly without any age-related warning or restriction, which, according to the complainants, is inappropriate given the nature of some scenes.
The teaser was released on January 8, coinciding with Yash’s 40th birthday, and quickly became a talking point across social media platforms. Despite the controversy, it has succeeded in drawing widespread attention and discussion.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups also features Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles. The film is slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026.
