Indian Railways Announces Temporary Changes; Check Cancelled and Diverted Train List Before You Travel
Passengers planning to travel by train in the coming days should verify the latest status of their journey before leaving for the railway station. Indian Railways has announced temporary changes to the operation of several trains due to infrastructure work in the Varanasi Division. The changes include train cancellations, route diversions, and skipped stoppages on multiple services between July 16 and July 21.
The operational changes are being implemented to facilitate non-interlocking work for patch doubling on the Gorakhpur Cantt–Unaula railway section. Since non-interlocking activities are essential for improving rail infrastructure and ensuring safer train operations, temporary traffic blocks will be in place during this period.
As a result, some long-distance trains will run on alternate routes, while others have been cancelled for specific dates. Travelers are advised to check the latest train schedule and running status before commencing their journey.
Why Are Train Operations Being Changed?
According to railway authorities, a traffic block has been scheduled from July 16 to July 21 to carry out non-interlocking work linked to the patch doubling project on the Gorakhpur Cantt–Unaula rail corridor under the Varanasi Division.
Non-interlocking is a critical stage of railway infrastructure development. During this process, signalling systems are upgraded and integrated to support new tracks and ensure safe train movement. To complete the work efficiently, train operations on the affected section have been temporarily modified.

Advisory for Railway Passengers
Since train schedules may change because of maintenance work, passengers are strongly encouraged to confirm the latest running status of their trains before heading to the station. Checking updated information in advance can help avoid unnecessary delays, missed journeys, and inconvenience caused by last-minute operational changes.
Travelers should also pay close attention to revised boarding stations, diverted routes, and cancelled stoppages, especially if they are travelling through the affected sections in eastern Uttar Pradesh and adjoining regions.
With infrastructure upgrades continuing across the railway network, temporary operational adjustments are expected from time to time. Staying informed about the latest announcements will help passengers plan their journeys more efficiently and ensure a smoother travel experience.
