A remarkable and unusual case has emerged from Chaksikander Mansoorpur village in Vaishali, Bihar, where a woman with three children left her husband to marry her lover in an unexpected twist that has become the talk of the area.
The woman, Paro Devi, was caught by villagers in an intimate situation with her boyfriend Rupesh Ram in a bedroom, sparking outrage. However, instead of escalating conflict, Rupesh called for a Panchayat (village council) to resolve the matter, where Paro Devi’s husband, Ramesh Ram, was also present.
At the Panchayat meeting, Rupesh performed the traditional ritual by applying sindoor (vermillion) in Paro Devi’s maang, symbolizing marriage. Surprisingly, Ramesh Ram did not object to the union. He calmly said that Paro could stay with her lover and that he would take responsibility for their children. He expressed his willingness to keep the children with him, demonstrating an unusual but pragmatic attitude towards the situation.
Paro Devi herself admitted that her youngest son is Rupesh’s biological child, a fact confirmed by Rupesh during the Panchayat.
Husband’s Perspective: A Sacrifice or Acceptance?
Ramesh Ram explained that Rupesh had been involved in similar relationships previously and that his wife and Rupesh had been secretly seeing each other for the past two years. Their acquaintance began about three years ago. Despite the emotional pain, Ramesh said he accepted the reality because of his family’s financial constraints and to avoid further conflict. “My wife can live wherever she wants. I want to keep the children and support them,” he said.
Rupesh’s Account
Rupesh revealed that Paro was initially like an “aunt” to him, as her house was close by. Over time, their relationship deepened into love. He admitted to providing financial support to Paro, including amounts between 20,000 to 30,000 rupees, as well as gifts, acknowledging that Ramesh’s earnings were limited.
After the Panchayat’s approval, Rupesh took Paro Devi to his home, marking the beginning of their life together.
This extraordinary story has sparked conversations across the village about love, marriage, and unconventional family arrangements in rural India.
