Even as the murder mystery of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi appears to be nearing a resolution, several lingering questions continue to pose challenges for the police, particularly concerning the reappearance of his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. Her sudden arrival at a dhaba, approximately 1200 kilometers from the crime scene in Shillong, and the absence of CCTV cameras at that specific location, are raising suspicions that her reappearance may have been part of a pre-meditated plan rather than a coincidence.
Adding to the complexity, a dhaba owner in the vicinity has provided an account that, if true, could significantly alter the understanding of Sonam's movements. This particular dhaba where Sonam surfaced reportedly lacked CCTV surveillance, unlike two other dhabas located just ahead on the same stretch. Intriguingly, on the night of June 8, the day before Sonam's reappearance, a young man strongly resembling her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, was seen at one of these other dhabas with friends. One of his companions even had a meal there, paying ₹150. While direct confirmation of the individual's identity as Raj Kushwaha remains elusive, the dhaba owner's statement has fueled speculation.
Ravi Srivastava, the owner of Annapurna Dhaba, became suspicious on June 9 when images of Raj Kushwaha began circulating in the media following news of Sonam Raghuvanshi's recovery. He noted a striking resemblance between Kushwaha and a young man in a white shirt who had visited his dhaba around midnight the previous day. Although he could not definitively confirm the identity, the facial similarities were pronounced.
Further complicating the narrative, CCTV footage from Lahuri Kashi Dhaba, adjacent to Annapurna Dhaba, reportedly shows a person resembling Raj Kushwaha on June 7, purchasing a bottle of water or another item. However, the dhaba operator has reportedly refused to release this CCTV footage, citing fear of police involvement.
These details raise significant questions about the spontaneity of Sonam Raghuvanshi's presence in Ghazipur, suggesting a potentially planned rendezvous.
To recap, Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi married on May 11 and subsequently embarked on their honeymoon to Shillong, Meghalaya, on May 20. Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered on May 23. At the time, Sonam Raghuvanshi was reported missing, leading to initial suspicions of kidnapping. Her unexpected appearance in Ghazipur on the night of June 9 transformed the investigation, making it clear that this was not a kidnapping case but rather a complex murder plot.
