Vaibhav Suryavanshi may not have made the impact he wanted with the bat on his Duleep Trophy debut, but the young East Zone vice-captain quickly gave his fans something to celebrate with the ball.

During the quarter-final against North East Zone in Bengaluru, Vaibhav produced a memorable spell in the second innings, taking two wickets in just four deliveries and helping East Zone move closer to a comprehensive victory.

Two Wickets in Four Balls

North East Zone were already under enormous pressure after being forced to follow on. During their second innings, Vaibhav was introduced into the attack and made an immediate impact.

He bowled the 28th over of North East Zone's innings and picked up two wickets during the over.

His first wicket came on the second delivery, when he dismissed Kishan Lyngdoh. He then struck again on the fifth ball, removing Imliwati Lemtur.

The two wickets came within just four legal deliveries, giving Vaibhav a memorable moment in his first Duleep Trophy campaign.

Finished With 2 for 11

Vaibhav bowled three overs in North East Zone's second innings and finished with impressive figures of 2 wickets for 11 runs.

It was a particularly encouraging performance because he had not bowled during North East Zone's first innings.

After scoring only eight runs with the bat in his Duleep Trophy debut, Vaibhav's contribution with the ball helped him make an impact on the match.

East Zone in Complete Control

East Zone had established a commanding position right from their first innings.

They posted a massive 467 runs, with centuries from Sudip Kumar Gharami and Shahbaz Ahmed providing the foundation for the huge total.

North East Zone struggled badly in response and were dismissed for just 111 runs, leaving them with a massive deficit and forcing them to follow on.

Their second innings also failed to provide much resistance, leaving East Zone firmly in control and threatening to win the quarter-final by an innings.

Vaibhav's All-Round Contribution

The youngster's performance is particularly interesting because Vaibhav is primarily known for his batting. His ability to contribute with the ball adds another dimension to his game.

Although his batting debut did not go according to plan, taking two wickets in a short spell showed that he can contribute in multiple areas when his team needs him.

For a young player making his first appearance in the Duleep Trophy, the experience could prove valuable as he continues to develop his red-ball cricket.
